It's a journey through one of London's most fascinating neighborhoods, combining exceptional food with nearly 1,000 years of history, hidden streets and extraordinary stories. I've personally delivered more than 750 tours here, carefully refining the experience and selecting an array of foods that our guests consistently rave about. Some are British classics, others are completely unexpected — and all have earned their place on the tour. Our relationships with carefully selected food stops also mean less time standing in Borough Market's famous queues and more time eating and exploring. Between tastings, we'll leave the crowds behind and discover the remarkable history surrounding the market. We'll visit Southwark Cathedral, uncover traces of Roman and medieval London, hear about the mud larkers of the Thames and discover connections with Shakespeare, Anglo-American history and some of London's more colourful characters. Who were the mysterious Winchester Geese? Where did familiar expressions such as "falling off the wagon" originate? And which modern London building became notorious for concentrating the sun's rays strongly enough to damage a car? I'll use historic images along the way to help peel back the layers of London and show you what once stood exactly where we're standing today. There's also a tea masterclass, some places I'm deliberately keeping secret, my favourite street in London — which I'm definitely not revealing here — and a dessert I can only describe as a hug in a pot. This is a private experience, so there's time to talk, ask questions and follow your curiosity. Come hungry. Leave knowing London differently.
